Outpatient Physical Therapy After Joint Replacement

Transitioning to an outpatient Physical Therapy program is an important step following Total Joint Replacement surgery. It is not uncommon for patients to have underlying muscle and joint stiffness following your surgery. Physical Therapy will help with restoring normal joint function to help reduce any future injury to the new joint replacement.

Outpatient Physical Therapy after Joint Replacement Surgery is essential to maximizing your strength and range of motion to ensure you are able to safely resume all normal and fitness activities. Full recovery can take anywhere from 3-6 months and having a therapist to guide you along that recovery process can be invaluable.

Our goal is to provide our patients with the best quality care including education, treatment and discharge planning. Your surgeon, our superior healthcare team, and your determination can all work together to reach the best possible patient experience, recovery and outcome.

Surgeons recommend attending our Joint Academy Orientation Class to any patient who is scheduled to undergo a total hip replacement or total knee replacement.

Orientation

The class is presented by a team of healthcare professionals who will be taking care of you during your hospital stay, including a Joint Coordinator that serves as your navigator throughout your joint replacement healthcare journey. The more prepared and organized patients are, the more empowered they feel about their upcoming surgery. This can significantly decrease anxiety and improve your overall surgical experience and recovery.

• Expectations during hospitalization
