Worcester, MA – Saint Vincent Hospital has announced a $10,000 sponsorship for Quinsigamond Community College (QCC) to create a Nursing Instructional Fund. The sponsorship will support instructors who teach in the college’s nursing program.

“This sponsorship will help support QCC’s nursing faculty and enable us to continue delivering highly skilled nurses to the workforce,” said QCC President Luis G. Pedraja, Ph.D. “Our community shapes our students, and our students shape the community. That is why community partnerships such as this one are so critical to the success of our students and, in turn, to building a thriving community.”

The sponsorship demonstrates Saint Vincent’s commitment to investing in the future of QCC’s education for tomorrow’s nurses, said Carolyn Jackson, Chief Executive Officer of Saint Vincent Hospital at last Friday’s announcement, joined by QCC graduates who work at the hospital, leaders from both organizations, and State Senator Michael Moore who is an alum of QCC.

“It is fitting that we present this sponsorship during National Nursing Week as we recognize and celebrate the critical importance of the profession and the practice of nursing,” Jackson stated. “We know that our Quinsigamond grads are well prepared for the workforce and they go on to quite successful careers in healthcare and beyond.

“We feel that maintaining strong partnerships between hospitals and colleges is essential to boosting enrollment in nursing education and to helping with recruitment and ensuring appropriate placement for nursing grads,” Jackson said. “In building a longer-term pipeline through investing in Quinsigamond Community College’s Nursing program, we will help meet the demand for nursing talent.”

This collaboration serves as a mechanism for nurses to develop across Saint Vincent and for nursing students to use the knowledge and skills learned, optimize their potential to practice, and enhance lifelong learning.
