Worcester, Mass., (November 1, 2017) – By achieving an “A” from the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, Saint Vincent Hospital is the only hospital in Worcester to receive this recognition for promoting safe care. The Leapfrog Group, a national patient safety watchdog, assigns “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” and “F” letter grades to hospitals nationwide and provides the most complete picture of patient safety in the U.S.
“At Saint Vincent Hospital, we continuously strive to maintain the highest standards for patient safety, and it’s gratifying to be recognized for those efforts,” said Jeffrey M. Welch, hospital CEO. “I would like to thank all of our employees and physicians for their commitment to providing a safe environment and compassionate care to all of our patients.”
Developed under the guidance of an expert panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. The ratings are calculated by top patient safety experts and are fully transparent and free to the public.
“Protecting patients from harm is the most important charge for any hospital,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We recognize and appreciate “A” hospitals’ vigilance and continued dedication to keeping their patients safe.”
